Honda Civic Hybrid: Honda today announced that it will launch it’s Civic hybrid across Canada and the U.S. and Canada in 2024 in versions of hatchback and sedan, expanding its electrification strategy with the creation of hybrid electric vehicles and products developed within North America.
The production 1. of the brand new Civic hybrid car will start in the spring of 2024, from Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) located in Alliston, Ontario. It will be followed by the hatchback that will be produced by the Indiana Auto Plant (IAP) located in Greensburg, Indiana, with the two-motor hybrid electric power unit that will be constructed at HCM at the Honda Transmission Plant in Ohio and the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine of the Atkinson cycle in the Anna Engine Plant in Ohio. The two plants HCM and IAP already have production facilities for the Honda CR-V hybrid.
“Our associates are proud to play an important role in the Honda electrification strategy by adding production of the new Civic hybrid to the CR-V hybrid we now build,” said Roxanna Metz, plant manager for the Indiana Auto Plant. “Sales of Honda hybrid models already represent more than one-quarter of our sales in the U.S. and we are proud to help our customers transition to the electrified future with our ‘made in Indiana’ products.”

Honda Electrification Strategy
The new Civic hybrid is yet another important stage in Honda’s electrification plan that includes the inclusion of its most popular models with hybrid electric systems. At present, more than 56 percent of U.S. sales of the Honda CR-V and Accord are hybrid-electric models. Over one-quarter from Honda’s overall U.S. sales are electrified models, making them the highest number of hybrids sold by the company.
Honda is expecting Civic Hybrid sales to account for over 40 percent in Civic sales. To help it attain carbon neutrality for all corporate and product activities in 2050. Honda plans to see batteries-electric vehicles and electric fuel cells make up 100% of the new vehicles in 2040. The sales of EVs will start in 2024, and will be followed by in 2024 the Honda Prologue the first Honda electric SUV. In 2025, a mid-to large-sized EV model based upon Honda’s e:Architecture brand will be on sale.
Honda announced the steps to follow in the development of the EV Hub located in Ohio which will guide the way to the production of EVs in North America. On October 20, 2022 Honda said it was going to invest $750 million in retooling some of its current powertrain and auto plants to create an EV Hub located in Ohio in preparation for the manufacturing of battery electric vehicles by 2025. Its Marysville Auto Plant (MAP) which is which is where Honda started auto production at the time of its arrival in America in 1982 was the very first Honda manufacturing facility to be located in the U.S. to transition to manufacturing EVs.
The brand new EV Hub will include a brand new collaboration EV battery plant, which is being developed through Honda as well as LG Energy Solution in Fayette County, which is located near Jeffersonville, Ohio. The joint venture facility is expected to be operational at the end of 2024 with a capacity of 40 GWh.

In 2022 the greater than 91% of U.S.-sold Honda and Acura automobiles were produced by the factories in North America, using domestic and imported parts.
Overall, Honda has invested more than $24 billion into their North American manufacturing capabilities, including more than $4.7 billion in the past five years. Honda has a relationship with more than 700 OEM suppliers across North America with cumulative parts purchases of over $562 billion.
